In Which I Feel Sarcastic

I just came back from having a cavity filled, and I am proud to report that I conducted myself with dignity. I even refrained from grabbing the dentist's arm while he wielded his drill. Of course, the valium probably helped.

And this just in - my blog is cute and endearing. At least, that's what some of the reviewers over at humor blogs said, and I don't think they meant that in a good way. They were probably just feeling cranky because they had to read a mommy blog. Apparently, we mommy bloggers are serious anathema to the, uh, serious humorists in the blogosphere. They only let us mommies hang around their site so that they'll have someone to laugh at their jokes. Girls are good for that.

Cute and endearing...I guess that beats "bitter, bored, and long-winded," which is how MadMad's blog was categorized. Maybe I should try to get sponsorship from Hallmark - or, even better, My Little Pony.

Now I'm trying to think of something cute to write. My toddler has had these long, ropey boogers hanging out of her nose all day. That's sort of cute, especially when they run into her mouth. Endearing, even. And the 5-year-old has been rubbing her boogers on her sleeve, and then licking it. Awww.....isn't that sweet? I should get a picture, I guess.

My novocaine is wearing off, which isn't doing much for my typically endearing disposition. Time to go...

  1. I bet if you could post pictures, they would change their minds. Just kidding. I think you're funny (and cute an endearing in funny, good way)

  2. I don't know why you two mess with the humor blog people. You're much better.

  5. If it makes you feel any better, I don't think your blog is cute. I think it's funny.

Yeah, those damn mommy bloggers. What serious issues do they have to blog about other than,er, raising children?

  6. Well, here's my input...

I think your blog is cute and endearing...

BUT IN A REALLY GOOD WAY.

So there. That's off my chest. Just thought you might like to know... in between washing and cleaning noses and whatot. :)

    Just Because

  7. Cute and endearing? Endearing, definitely yes. But cute? You're more the witty, clever type, with a large dose of strong and awesome mixed in. I hate it when people call something cute in order to minimalize it. But really, it looks like overall the reviews were pretty good, right?

(You are so brave. I would wilt and whither and die if I had to face any criticism whatsoever.)

  8. Your daughter rubs boogers on her sleeve too?!?! You mean, my daughter MIGHT be normal? I was beginning to think there was something seriously wrong with her!

  9. LMAO here. Ignore the "humorists." We know you are funny. So sorry about the cavity. So lucky on getting valium. Could use some here.

  10. I think your blog IS endearing. When they said "cute" they must have just read one of your posts where everyone is throwing up.
I love to read your blog because you are about as sarcastic as I am.
    I like sarcastic people.
Some of my neighbors don't understand sarcasm. More than once I've said something sarcastic, and they look at me like I'm from a different planet, then nervously walk away.

My toddler NEVER has long stringy boogers hanging out of his nose. He wipes them all in my hair.

  14. I laughed when I read the part of refraining from grabbing your dentist's arm! I had a colonoscopy in November (yes...I am that old!)and during the procedure, when I kept thinking, geez, I'm really wide awake here can't they give me something more, the nurse came over and took my hand to adjust some tubes. When I said to her, "Can you just hold my hand?", I realized, I must be doped up! I give her credit for holding my hand!

  15. My son is king of boogers. I'm sure your daughter can't compete. I've seen things the size of people come out of that kid's nose.
Did they at least also say "funny" or "witty" or something?
Cute and endearing doesn't have to be a bad thing. I like cute and endearing.

  16. Yes, you should get a couple of pics with the boogers. At least I would. :)

Hope your mouth feels better. I hate the dentist!

  18. Way too funny to be cute and endearing! Although those are not negative adjectives in any way, they are so not your blog! Makes you wonder if they even have read it! But, they obviously felt positive about your writing, just didn't use the right describing words! :)

  19. I suppose if I were ever going to submit my site to be reviewed by someone, painkillers and benzo's would be a good idea...

  20. Aww all that snot DOES sound awfully cute and endearing...

  21. That's why I don't put my blog up for review. You know what's worse than a bad review? A good review. The pressure!

  22. You go, girl. You are cute and endearing. And so are those kids, boogers and all.

Only, I'm feeling a little sick to my stomach thinking about that last bit.

  23. My daughter would read your blog if you had just one picture of My Little Pony.
