Shopping and Knitting and Puppies!

I took 3 daughters to the mall today to help Anna find a dressy white blouse for Anna for her concert. No, it wasn't easy; but mothering girls is not for the weak. If you can't stand the heat, get the heck out of the shopping center, all right?

We emerged from the mall victorious. And then I came home to undone laundry, a half-done dinner, and general chaos all around. Because I wouldn't want to feel like a success or anything...

Orchestra carpool tonight - that meant that I had almost 3 hours to sit around and knit. This is why it is a good idea to encourage musical interest in your progeny.

Although you do have to give up some of your yarn money for those darn lessons....[oh, hey, no pun intended - but that was pretty good, wasn't it?]

If I don't remember to get the recycling out on time tomorrow morning, I am going to have to buy a new house to live in that isn't filled with old newspapers or empty plastic bottles. But at least that isn't as embarrassing a reason for a forced new-house purchase as this one. It's hard to feel sorry for these people, I must say. Anyone stupid enough to e-mail naked pictures of herself to her husband's cell phone and then be surprised that other people saw them deserves online infamy. And now they are suing people over it. I hope the judge laughs at them and tells them to go away. Oh, and confiscates their cell phones, also...

While I finished preparing dinner, I kept the younger kids busy by letting them watch this puppy-cam site. Anna, hearing them oohing and aahing over the fluffy little things, said, "Isn't it sort of pathetic that they have electronic pets?"

I can't imagine where she gets that sardonic wit from.

Awww - I just went to the site again to copy the link, and all the widdle puppies are settling down to sleep....

Have you noticed? I don't think anyone has thrown up here since July 4th. That must be some sort of a record. I might even have to take "Vomit!" off my header. Gladly.

  1. I have a violin student, one who wants to learn bass guitar and one that well..she has this urge to shake her hips a lot so she might want to dance. I get lots of knitting time but don't take advantage of it.
And I didn't see a puppy picture imbedded...of course my computer may be misbehaving and blogger's had a lot of flatulance lately.

  2. Did you explain to Anna that electronic pets don't leave messes on the carpet?

  3. Oh, you shouldn't have said that you haven't had vomit for so long because you've just tempted Mr. Murphy big time.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that he didn't hear anything.

  5. Thank you for reminding me to take the recycling bin and the trash bin to the curb. Cueing Dionne and posse, "That's what friends are for..."

  6. Shopping? I've got boys. I avoid shopping! (God knew what He was doing, that's for sure.)
A friend keeps telling me about the cute puppies at the animal shelter. Luckily, I run the idea past my husband first and he assures me it is a bad idea. One cat is enough.
I do admire you for using your spare time for knitting. I'm getting a reputation for napping in the dentist's waiting room.

  7. But where do you get the time to search the Internet for weird news stories?

  8. Well, we've had plenty of puking in our family for the two of us. It hit over our vacation to NY for Thanksgiving. My seven year old was the lucky kid who managed to actually be throwing up on the Big Day. Miraculously no one threw up in the car on the 17 hour trip home- the 3 year old waited until the day after we got home, bless her heart.

  9. Gonna have to check out the puppy cam site--since the real ones we have are just not cutting it with the kids in terms of capturing their attention. Real dogs have to potty and be fed and watered and played with...sheeeshhh. No fun at all. But Puppy Cam Puppies....that might just work...

    Blessings!

  10. Sad to say the dude will probably win the law suit after all the lady that spilled coffee ON HERSELF made out pretty good. Glad she did it though, otherwise we wouldn't have the HOT labels on the coffee and I might be fooled!

  11. We always take out the tresh and recycling the night before so that we don't have to get up to early in the morning.

  12. It would be great if the judge would slap them for being stupid.

  13. Do your girls buy clothes that they never, ever wear? Like, they got to the mall, try on the clothing, and say, "Yes...this is perfect!"

And then it never, ever gets out of the closet?

  15. Puppy cam--what next?

Glad you had some "quiet time" to knit, anyway.

  16. I love the puppies. Right now they are asleep, like I wish I was.

  17. Now why would you go and curse yourself by admitting, out loud, that no one has vomited?

  18. My mother and I have decided that this is THE best way to have a puppy-you just log off when you are tired of them! LOL!

  19. Several years ago while moving into a new house my 11 year old son found some nude Polaroids of the previous pregnant tenant. Luckily she had only move one block over in the town of 300 residents so we knew just who she was and just where to find her.

Mrs. Smith rule #1 - Never let pictures be taken that you wouldn't want others to see.

  20. You are soooo doomed on the whole Vomit thing. And knitting? Sigh. i have been suckered back into that for the holidays. And it's not a pretty sight. I need to admit I am knitting challenged and just. move. on.

  21. I swear I am addicted to knitting. In the last two weeks I've done two hats and a dishcloth. Of course they were Christmas presents so that didn't make me feel to bad for sitting down and taking time to do them.

The last two years I've given dishcloths to my girlfriends and they just adore them, in fact now they request them.

  22. You do know that the minute you say that no one had gotten sick/vomited/anything else in a while - that's the last time you would be able to say it? I hope I am wrong...

  23. As a retired band geek, I dream of my kids asking for music lessons. But no. Alas, all I seem to have are girlfriends who groan about listening to beginning clarinet lessons. Silver lining, I guess. ;)
