Coming Attractions

I'm leaving the appliance poetry poll (left sidebar) up over the weekend, because one of the contestants went and asked all her blog readers to vote for her; so I figure the rest of the contestants might want to do the same (just to make it fair). Plus, I'm so proud of figuring out how to put up the darn thing (even though the print is so tiny as to be almost unreadable), I figure I should leave it up there a little longer. Anyone who hasn't done so already, visit our appliance poetry slam and vote in our little contest. I mean, unless you have something better to do....

How come I'm the only one who finds time to blog over holiday weekends? Looks like I've perfected the fine art of neglecting my family, unlike the rest of you slackers. That's okay, I'll just stay on the computer talking to myself....I don't mind. Plus, now that I have this work-from-home editing job, Larry thinks I'm earning money when he sees me at the computer. I've got it made.

Dawn is tempting me with further updates to my blog layout. Stay tuned. I know, you are all agog with anticipation. Can I help it if I don't have a life? Ever since I stopped having babies, I've sort of been at loose ends. For years I told myself that once there were no more babies in the house, I would have more time to cook and clean and homeschool and all that sort of stuff. But now that my youngest is 4, I've had an epiphany: I don't want to spend more time doing those things. I do them enough already.

So I blog instead. And - occasionally - knit. An update on the 9-day (plus several months) Baby Surprise Jacket is in the works. No, the jacket isn't done yet. You can't rush a masterpiece, you know. Even if it does turn out to be a masterpiece of ineptitude...

  3. I'm here too. And unfortunately I'm working tomorrow and all weekend. Go research!

I'm dying to know what the new blog design updates are going to be. Give me something to procrastinate with at work. :)

  6. I don't want to spend more time cooking and cleaning, either. When the baby is older I want to spend more time sewing and knitting, but I might have to clean just a little so I don't feel too cluttered to create. Just a little, though.

  7. When I blog even on a regular weekend, I feel more like I'm talking to myself than I do on a weekday. Holiday weekends are far more so. Fortunately, as I talk to myself all the time anyway, I just shrug and post.

  8. Wow...here you are getting all fancy, and I've just now figured out (with the help of some of my commenters) to log into my own blog so I can comment on others'. No wonder I couldn't figure that out (7 posts in the last three months and all...and NOT because I haven't been neglecting my family, either)!

I was just checking facebook and e-mail when my beloved MIL walked in and commented that I'd been spending too much time on the computer (1 hour, if you care). I think my husband sent her in to say that. I guess I'm not supposed to ignore my family. Darn. I had nearly perfected my methodology, too!
Just to keep the peace, I'm logging off, so I won't get to up my numbers in the poll.

  11. That's funny about now your husband thinks you are working whenever he sees you at the computer. Bonus.

  12. I shared your thought that when the kids were older I would have more time for cooking and cleaning, however, I've discovered that blogging is just more fun than those other things.
My kids used to tell me that I was spending too much time blogging, so every time they would complain, I would tell them to go do the dishes or clean their rooms or something.

    Now they hardly ever complain.

  13. OOOH! I LOVE the new blog layout! It is hilarious that your hubby assumes you're working when you're at the computer. Mine accuses me of shopping.

  14. I hear you; enuf with the cooking and cleaning. Blogging is definitely addicting. My kids keep giving me a hard time and they're OLD (15, 18, 21)!
    I say screw 'em.

  15. I am not telling my readers to vote for me, because it wouldn't be fair when I didn't even TRY to write anything creative. Plus I only have about six readers, so it wouldn't help me win anyway.

    I like your blog makeover.

Here's to slacking off--and to having a great weekend. Now I must go bribe some folks to vote for my poetry (hahaha).
