A Word To The Wise

I have no idea why someone Googling "easter cupcake ideas" would land on my blog....I mean, unless there are those among us that feel that a volcano cake is appropriate for our spring festivities...

And in the News You Can Use category, this article tells us that
Up to a third of breast cancer cases in Western countries could be avoided if women ate less and exercised more, researchers at a conference said Thursday, renewing a sensitive debate about how lifestyle factors affect the disease.

So, if y'all excuse me, I think I'll put this box of Girl Scout cookies away and get off my computer-sitting rear end for a bit...

Enjoy your weekend!

  1. I have no idea how you find out what people googled to get to your blog. (Maybe that's some sort of sign for you, though. Are you supposed to make cupcakes? Who can turn down a cupcake? They can heal all evils, you know....)

  2. Want to know what's funny? Your blog was the last thing I decided to read b4 I went to ice cupcakes for church tomorrow. :) At least now I won't be eating one! Thanks! :)

  3. Y'know, those are good studies, and they have a very valid point... and yet--I remember the reaction when Linda McCartney found out she had breast cancer: but she's a vegetarian! She preaches healthy eating! How could...!

The point being, diseases are, to some degree, simply part of the human condition. In my own family, of us six kids, five of us were into exercising and two of us were particularly into eating healthy.

Yeah well. One of those two got hit with diabetes. The other? Lupus and Crohn's both for yours truly. The other four siblings are fine, including the one heavy one.

One of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross's patients told her, If I'd known life was going to be so short, I'd have eaten more chocolate!

I've decided that's not a bad motto to live by. Pass the Scharffenberger. Enjoy. Life is too short not to.

  5. Life is short -- eat GOOD chocolate, but eat it sparingly.

I guess I'm running out of excuses not to exercise...

  6. Does it count that I will spend all of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday hoofing it through NYC? I hope so. Tonight was girls' night; 4 of us drank wine and ate cheese and crackers while I got my hair colored. (To heck with the high cholesterol!)

  7. I just need to have the desire to exercise again! Hmmm, yep, I checked and it is still not there!
