Who Needs Words?

You know what's sad?  I spent 3 years writing my heart out, striving to entertain the  people who would visit my blog each day, which effort resulted in an average daily readership was around 160.

I know - not very impressive.

So!  Life starts kicking me in the behind, as it were, I slack off posting (mostly because I have largely lost my sense of humor and if anyone can find it, please mail it back to me pronto) and - due to some recent change in the Google Image search algorithm - I STILL average 160 readers.

Pictures of kites, and mice, and chocolate swiss army knives - that's what people are looking for these days, if my sitemeter stats mean anything. To hell with well-crafted posts, I guess...

I am still playing catch-up on my editing work; children formerly known as adorable (and, uh, bloggable) are turning into teenagers left and right around here; my husband requires close monitoring, as he has developed quite the Craigslist habit; and I currently have no appliances to complain about.  Have no fear, however; influenza is at its peak in this area, so I am sure to return soon with memorable posts about vomit and ginger ale

Isn't it nice to know there is still something in this world you can count on?

  1. I rarely post, don't have much to say. Besides, you can "say" stuff funnier than I can.

  3. I've been taking a bit of time off myself. Those unbloggable people & things are dragging me down, and then it feels like I'm being a fraud when I blog about the bloggable stuff... as if life were all kites and chocolate swiss army knives. If only!

But mice? If I had mice, the world would definitely know about it!

  5. I don't stick with you because of the quantity of posts, but because of the quality! It's nice to know I'm not the only one cleaning up vomit or running scared from disgusting insects. And my refrigerator needs cleaning. Again.

You'll be back to normal at some point. And when you are, I'll still be reading!

  6. I have missed you though, and your sense of humour. I don't know where your's has gone, but I know mine's been missing in action a lot lately. Hope we both get our humour mojo back soon. :) In the meantime, teenagers are just as funny as toddlers, and with any luck won't realize you posted about them. That's my philosophy anyway.

  9. I have things to say, I either can't find the time, or......it isn't all that funny.
You, on the other hand, are a very funny woman.

  10. Oh dear, I hope no one actually does vomit--and that the Craigslist addiction runs a fast course.

  12. May you not get the flu, no matter how much material it may give you to write about!

    Hang in there, girlfriend.

  13. Hmmm...perhaps I should consider putting some clip art on my blog. I would love it if 160 people came to my blog every day!

  16. Yup, definitely missing your posts...does it count all the times we click over to see if there is a new one? I'd be accountable for some of those readers then.

I love your blog and look forward to reading it. This doesn't mean you have to post for me, just that you have some loyal readers who miss you when you are gone.

You could always go back to the refrigerator posts...I found them most interesting. I'm odd like that. I can't look into my fridge at the old containers now and not think of your posts.

  17. I'm so happy about the ending to your post. I thought you were going to say you are done blogging! That would be a shame because you are fantastic!

  18. Doesn't it kill you when you trip over a scattered, gimmicky, not-that-clever blog and it has like two thousand followers? I'm in your ballpark, baby--maybe WE'RE the ones who rock.

  19. I've been feeling blog slumpy lately too. I think it's February. Except now it's March.
