Pajama Game

I was folding mine and Larry's laundry last night (because that is the kind of exciting life I lead - what else would one do on a Saturday evening?).  Having finished, I set aside that evening's sleepwear to put on later.  But then I had what can only be described as an epiphany.

Maybe I need the ruffled shorts?
"Hey!" I said to myself.  "It's 8 PM, and I'm not going anywhere.  Why can't I put on my pajamas and lounge around in them like any normal person?  Why DO I stay dressed to the shoes every evening until 11 PM, anyway?"

So, intrepid habit-breaker that I am, I took off my workaday clothes and pulled on my sweatpants and my T-shirt and the huge, comfy sweatshirt that I stole from Larry, way back when our marriage was still young and it was cute to do things like that.

"Aaah," I thought.  "That's more like it.  How relaxing! Now I'll go downstairs and sit on the couch and read and knit and blog all evening long."

Only I never made it down there.  Instead, I was so relaxed that I lay down on my bed and went to sleep.  Which might just explain why I CAN'T put on my pajamas and lounge around in them like any normal person...

  1. I spend the majority of every day barefoot and wearing a sleeveless pink terry cloth wrap. I hate bras and I hate shoes. I sleep in the nude. Aren't you glad you asked?

  2. Maybe next time include a cup o' joe. We must buy our lingerie from the same store.

  6. In the winter, especially, I just want to pull on my pj's (fleece) and get into bed by 7:00 pm. If I changed into pj's then, I'd be done for. Of course, I would also wake up at 2:00 am, raring to go...it's the only thing that keeps me from doing this. Is it a morning person thing?

  7. Maybe it's my homeschool background... maybe I just like be comfortable... maybe I'm secretly a slob... but the minute I get home from work I go to the bedroom to put on my comfy pants. The worst part of that is when my wife informs me that we need to go out again--because, say, the dishwasher is broken or we need more pet food because I have to make myself look semi-respectable again. [sigh]

  8. I've worked at home since our oldest was born, just over 17 years ago. I usually work in comfortable sweats so when I actually do wear regular clothes, my kids are confused and I get comments such as "Why are you wearing THOSE clothes? Are you going somewhere? do we get to stay at grandmas?"

    1. If I stay in comfy clothes, NOTHING gets done. NOTHING. Today is a case in point, I might add...

  9. I've totally done the jammies after dinner thing. It's so relaxing. Not THAT, relaxing, however.

  10. I appropriated a few pairs of #3 sweats when he outgrew them. Those pants and a favorite sweatshirt or flannel shirt work fine for sleeping and I sort of look dressed if I need to run out unexpectedly.

  11. Love an elastic waist at the end of the day! (Although I'm 19 weeks preggo, so that's my excuse at the moment!)

  12. Yoga pants, t-shirts and sweatshirts might explain why I get so little done each day. Hmmmm....

  13. I didn't go anywhere today, so I stayed in sweats and the kids stayed in pajamas all day. I'll admit, it was almost impossible to rout my backside from the couch. I love taking a shower as soon as the kids go to bed and climbing into pajamas... and then trying to read a book and crashing in the bedroom recliner.
