Well Preserved

We be jammin' today, folks!  All day, we be jammin'.  That's what happens when you lose your head and decide to go pick 50 dollars worth of strawberries the day before.

This is how old I'll be by the time we are done.

FIFTY DOLLARS.  This had better be some really good jam.

    1. You give me too much credit. It's a simple process, if a tad time-consuming. And, remember, my youngest is already 8 years old. I should be able to make jam AND rule a small country in my spare time.

  5. Ah, now I know it was a good thing that they only had one quart left when I went to buy buckets of strawberries at the farmer's market. But strawberry jam.. MMMMMM!

IN answer to your question on my blog - yes, the Youghiogheny River is at Ohiopyle state park. I've never been there, but I understand there is plenty of white water!

We just picked 23 lbs at $1.78. Too tired to do the math. Had stuff for jam. Wasn't feeling it. So I barely cut off the tops and froze them all on cookie sheets then into bags. Oh and the gallon I gave to our Dr. And the 3 quarts to the neighbors. Oh and strawberry apple oat quinoa bake. Yeah jam may have been easier. Lol

    1. I'm so jealous that you can get them so cheaply wherever you live! We had to pay $2.59 a pound.

Wow! I live in Michigan! In a subburb of Detroit. This was more in the country though. It is Strawberry season here. They are about $2.99 a lb at Trader Joes here so I knew I was getting a good deal...now I know a great deal. It was our first time. I wore a long flowy skirt and felt all "Little House on the Prairie-ish"
I made sure all 4 of my kids(who are under 7 yrs old) were wearing navy blue or red. I guess i myself forgot the memo as I wore my very pale pink flowy skirt and a white T shirt. After we were done and the kids/baby had touched me a million times I looked like I had just slaughtered a hog in that field with my clothes. For real. My 15 month old looked like he was eating...raw pig..i mean he really looked like a vampire..it was crazy. Mind you we are vegetarian so this was extra disturbing. Oh well...I cant wait until apple season in the Fall. Much cleaner picking!

I was thinking blueberries in August, but that may make my kids hate me.. Way too tedius. They bailed on the strawberry picking after they ate their fill. except the 2.5 yr old. He was all business. He could have gotten a job there! LOL..love your blog by the way:)
