Random Friday

Tomorrow, I get to drive. Rachel has a dentist appointment, that we can no longer walk to. Then one of my elderly clients has a hair appointment. After that, I am transporting 5 tween girls to a weekend camping trip over an hour away. And then I am driving straight back home, because nothing in this world could induce me to spend the weekend camping with a bunch of tween girls. NOTHING.

All in all, I'll be in the car for over 4 hours. In a perfect world,  I could get somewhere exciting in 4 hours. But that's not what is happening here.

Random photo: I made these
Idea: Could we just stick Kim Jong Un and Trump in a room and let them fight it out? They obviously have issues with each other, and the rest of us just want to get on with our lives.

Looks like it's a random thoughts night. That's okay, no one looks at this on a Friday, anyway.

**********

I'm already dreaming of Halloween candy. That's normal, right?

Good news! I'm off the hook for planning something amazing for Larry's 50th. He just found out he has to travel for work and will be away for the big day. Whew! I told him we'd make his traditional cake and send him photos of us all enjoying it without him. I mean, he'd want to know we're thinking of him, right?

                                                                      **********

And that's all I've got. Feel free to be random in the comments, you lovely anonymous weekend readers, you!

  1. By the way, those asterisks took an inordinate amount of time to get right.

  2. Asterisks. Heh. I hope you have a good audioboom for that long of a car ride. Only way I can do long bike rides too (one ear only -the other listens to traffic). I say we shackle both Trump and Kim to wheelbarrow and make them help with disaster clean up. I have no patience with the idea of more violence with all of the horrible stuff going on. Have you read about Myanmar yet? Shudder. I have the cold that won't due this week. I hope I pull out of it to have a little fun Saturday.

    1. Audiobook. What the heck is an audioboom autocorrect?
And die not due. This dumb phone. Also, add in a second wheelbarrow.

    2. Good thing you added that. I was about to ask Brian to explain to me what an audioboom was. I figured it was a really rocking playlist.

    3. I think it's a splendid new word! We should all start using it.

  3. I was going to suggest "audiobooms" as well! All right, I was going to say I hope you have a good audiobook or podcast for the driving.

As for my random Friday moment, I am trying to be glad that the rain did not ruin anything in the mail that was left outside the door, instead of being annoyed that he left it there, rather than bringing it inside to the mailbox. Can you tell I'm struggling to be grateful?

  5. Reading on Saturday. And cleaning out closet and realized my old purses can now be sold as "vintage". That means money, right? Hoping this is one advantage to being old.

  6. I just drove 6 hours to St. Paul, MN with Mini for Irish dancing and got back last night. I've been having trouble sleeping and was nervous that I would have a hard time keeping my eyes open for the drive. We watched, OK - she watched and I listened - to two movies on the way there and two on the way home. They were movies I had seen before, so listening was fine for me. It really passed the time. AND despite my history of speeding tickets, I didn't get a single one on this trip!

  8. Those are fabulous gloves. My van is old, almost as old as my in-laws' motorhome we borrowed this weekend to go to a wedding -- but luckily both vehicles have CD players. We listened to the Boys in the Boat audiobook on CD. I was wide awake on the long drives!
