Just Beachy

Just a quick note to say I'm leaving for a week at the beach.

Knitting's all packed!

That's right, the beach. And get this - we're NOT CAMPING. Yes, we actually learned from our stupid experience 2 years ago, when we said, "Hey, why not camp near the beach? Wouldn't that be great?"

Never again, people, never again.

So we spent more money than we should and rented a little house in the center of a cute little beach town that Susie and I visited last year with a friend and, yes, now it looks as though it will rain most of the week, but I don't really care. Because, as I've mentioned, we're NOT CAMPING.

There's a washer/dryer, too, so I won't have to trek to the laundromat every 3 days. And have I mentioned the ice cream place across the street?

So we spent the entire day packing and I'm bringing way too much stuff and we surprised the girls by having their friend who moved away 2 years ago show up at the airport to join us for our week of not-camping fun.

It's been busy, is what I'm saying. I'm looking forward to finally getting in the car and not trying to organize things. I'm DONE.

Don't worry, I packed clothes, too. And my
somewhat warped version of summer beach reading...

I'm leaving the laptop at home. So I'll see you on the other side, folks. I mean, if the seagulls don't get me...

  3. Have fun! We just got back from a few days at the beach - we were worried about the weather as before we got there it had rained 19 days straight (we heard this from every local we talked to plus it was in the paper.) While we were there it didn't rain a drop - so there's hope for your trip.

  5. Enjoy the time away! I think it could be the best thing ever to be near an ice cream place. You could just look out your window or stick your head out the door to see if there is a line, and if there isn't, you can skip over to get your favorite flavor. Sometimes at the beach the line is an hour long at the ice cream place. .... I have been meaning to tell you - I did not go anywhere for a rally at the end of June. But if I ever do go to a rally where you are, I will try to contact you beforehand. ... I read that book about Israel. I hope I didn't con you into thinking that it is a good beach read.

  9. Hope you are having a great time. Can't wait to hear about it. So fun that you are surprising the girls with a friend! We went to a beach in Michigan a few weeks ago - the forecast looked yucky, but it turned out great. Hope that happens for you too!
