Yet Another Homeschooling Fail

Australia has states!  7 of them, to be precise.  Who knew?  Not me, that's for sure.

They have names, and everything!


In other news, I ponied up the $8.50 and started reading The Hunger Games last night.  In retrospect, I should have saved it for next week, AFTER finishing up my yearly work contract.  Because it is VERY DISTRACTING.  I think I finally went to sleep at 2 AM.  That is stupid behavior for a responsible adult.  Which, apparently, I am not.

    I was noticing a lot of high school students reading it about a year ago. One Friday night I downloaded book one on my Nook. Book two was downloaded about 11 p.m. and book three Saturday afternoon. I was so glad I'd gone digital!

    You should read Mem Fox books. Specifically, "Possum Magic." It teaches the capitals of all seven Aussie states as well as native foods! Minties and meat pies and pavlova and lamingtons... nom nom nom...

    Actually, Australia has 6 states and 2 territories. The state and territory governments are slightly different.

    Don't feel bad. I grew up 2 hours from Canada and I didn't know it an extra northern province. I couldn't pronounce it, so maybe that's why I failed to acknowledge its existence. But still!

    I knew about Queensland because that is where Steve Irwin had his zoo. (It's still there, of course.)

    You need to read more Australian blogs! I have some wonderful books that have been sent to my kids from Aussie bloggers. Ernie Dances to the Didgeridoo is a nice one about native Australian culture. We have Possum Magic too. :)

    I haven't started reading The Hunger Games yet for precisely that reason. I haven't read much of anything in the last couple of years because I can't put books down. And somehow the kids seem to expect dinner and maybe even a little attention?

    I like real books I can read in the bathtub without worrying if they fall in...

    Neighbors cat had 6 kittens in #4 bedroom closet this morning. I guess #4 was right about midnight the cat being pregnant?
