For 3 years, we've been deprived of even so much as a 2-inch snowfall in this area; for 3 winters, our kids - sleds at the ready - have waited patiently for one big storm, big enough to cancel schools and work -- cancel everything, really, but the fun. And, at long last, it looks as if their patience will be rewarded.
8-10 inches are predicted for tomorrow, people - and we are OVER THE MOON about this. Do you know how dreary it is to go through an entire winter without even one snow day to break up the monotony? At last, our ridiculously fast-paced suburban lifestyle will be made to stand still, if only for 24 hours or so - and snowmen will be built, cocoa will be drunk, homemade cinnamon rolls will be consumed with abandon.
Bring it on, Mother Nature - we are SO ready.

Yes! We had enough snow before and just after Christmas day to sled, but not enough since then. Kids broke 2 of the three new sleds then. I bought two heavier weight plastic sleds today. #3, oldest son, is splitting/bringing in firewood as we speak. Bring on the snow, I work from home. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are too prepared for snow here sometimes. There is a TON of snow coming down and NOTHING is getting cancelled. Kids still have choir and piano and I have orchestra rehearsal. I want a snow day!
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled for you! Go forth and throw those snowballs!
ReplyDeleteI hope your family got their snow day. EVERYTHING is cancelled here in the north suburbs of Chicago, except the school where my daughter teaches..... Even the colleges are closed!!! It is a beautiful snowfall, not too cold outside, perfect for all things winter. Besides, it is supposed to be 46 on Sunday.....ENJOY!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I am living in fear of a snow day. We used ALL our snow days with Hurricane Sandy. If we have even one more, we start losing Spring Break. Much as I would love a day to sleep in, I want the chance to get out of town. ya know?
ReplyDeleteI miss the thrill of a snow storm. Live it up!
ReplyDeleteJealous! This is our third year without a decent snow. We've had two snowfalls this year, but neither of them has stuck around for long enough to really play. It's so frustrating. Enjoy your snow!!!
ReplyDeleteI canceled an entire day of customer meetings to skip out of DC a day early to miss the snow and landed back home in Central Ohio right during the height of the downfall last night. It's beautiful, though, fluffy and densely wet. Perfect for snowballs and forts and snowmen. My big kids were in the snow before I left for work at 8 am!
ReplyDeleteLiving in the Pacific Northwest, we rarely see significant snow, so a snow day for us is 1/2 inch. When we get any snow at all, everything comes to a screeching halt and the tv news stations go into emergency mode (Snowpocolypse 2013!!). It's kind of hilarious, actually. My husband, who is from Michigan, just shakes his head at all of us.
