Larry spent the day completing his destruction of the main basement area, which I think was his way of adjusting, so hey, I didn't get in the way. Brian helped, but I don't think he was too happy about it.
All in all, a good, productive day, until we came home from the movie theater and Rachel rolled her eyes at me one too many times. She then tried telling me what was and wasn't her job. I explained that her job was whatever I said it was. Sheesh, Michelle wouldn't take that nonsense from Sasha, I'm sure of it. See what happens when the Obamas leave?
I paid for that girl's movie ticket, too. I want my money back.

Don't worry, honey, give us a few months - I'm sure we'll fix that.
And then Brian said, "Oh, hey, I'm going to shower in there now; it looks way better than our other bathroom."
Isn't that cute that he thinks I'll let him do that? Larry will be lucky if I let HIM in that bathroom. I'm thinking I'll just move a small (really small) desk in there and make it my office. A room of my own, as it were...
I'm sure Michelle Obama would approve.

I had to work today to finish the annual report. (Done, thank God!) I told my husband I wanted to go out, but now that I'm home, I don't want to go anywhere. I don't want to adult or see other people. If I see happy faces I'll think they voted for him. I think I want to watch a sad movie and mourn. Sorry...
I'd be interested in hearing which jobs are Rachel's and which jobs are not. In solidarity as a parent, of course. I would definitely not laugh. The shower is lovely!
ReplyDeleteWe have a thing (for YEARS) where the kids rotate the basic kitchen jobs: empty dishwasher, load dishwasher, clean up food and table and sweep. But Rachel was making Susie cry (because heaven forbid BOTH of them do their jobs in the same kitchen at the same time) so I told her to finish Susie's job that night, too. Which involved approximately 3 more dishes to load into the dishwasher....not really the right hill to die on, if you ask me.
DeleteWe got our very first flat screen t.v. about 6 months ago. We have just always had the old tube t.v.s and when other friends/family upgraded to flat screens, they just kept giving us their tube t.v.s. We aren't the type to just buy something just because...we had to wait until the tube t.v.s started to die. Anyway, we finally got a flat screen. The first night it was in, my son walked in the room and said, "That looks like something that should be in someone else's house!" I knew exactly what he meant. He was absolutely right! It still surprises me that it is in my living room!

ReplyDeleteThe eye rolls and back talk (from my oldest starting at around age 8) drove me nuts. I hope you are dealing with it more calmly than I did.

We went to see Hidden Figures on Friday, too. Great movie and the kids all liked it, but it was a strange juxtaposition with the events of the day.
