Columbus, Ohio?
And Clemson, SC?
You should out yourselves, okay? I know some people don't like to comment, and I understand that (well, not really, but I accept that).
But if you're going to read, repeatedly, 20 or more pages at a time, a simple "Hi, I'm not a plagiarist" would be reassuring. Because if anyone is going to be interviewed on The Daily Show about kids, and vomit, and mice? It had better be me.
Just a little fantasy of mine...
Anyway, I've already hit the big time, as evidenced by my first check from Blogher. Are you ready?
39 dollars, people.
No! Make that 39 dollars and 18 cents. For two months.
Yes, I've whored my blog out for 20 bucks a month. I have no pride. Because Jon Stewart never calls, darn him....

That's it for today - I need to go yarn-shopping with my newly-acquired funds before Larry makes me use the moolah on something sensible like an IRA. What use is retirement if I have not first amassed an adequate yarn stash to see me through my golden years?

I'm not from Columbus, OH, or Clemson, SC but I enjoy your blog from Atlanta, GA!
ReplyDeleteI'm not from any of those places either, but have been reading through your blog lately - makes me laugh which is a rare thing at the moment - and I hear you sister on the bras! Thanks for being so amazing. Kiwi in NZ
ReplyDeleteGood for you on the moola. Tell Larry an accountant friend of mine said that the best investments anyone can make are in non-perishable consumables. I think yarn would qualify.
ReplyDeleteWahoo Paydirt! You're worth a whole .05 cents an hour to BlogHer. I heard they were much more generous in the beginning. I shouldn't complain because I'm looking forward to my funds from them so I can get purchase a happy meal. Maybe they will read this comment and send me a bill instead.
ReplyDeleteyay!!Congrats!
ReplyDeleteDoes that buy a lot of yarn?
Clemson, SC here! I'm not a creepy internet stalker, I promise!
ReplyDeleteI'm a simple college girl, oldest of 4, who stumbled upon your blog by way of thebigmamablog.com and find your life eerily similar to my growing-up years, and very much reminiscent of "home!"
Clemson, SC #2 happens to be my best friend, also oldest of 4...also not a creepy internet stalker!
Your repeat visitors are probably reading from the universities or libraries in those towns, which would make multiple readers show up as one "visitor".
ReplyDeleteThis totally cracked me up.
ReplyDeleteI buy lots and lots of gum with my blogher cash :)
Yay for Clemson, SC! I actually had a college girl that started reading my blog for the same reason- it reminded her of home. That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty cool. I have yet to put advertisments on my blog. Is it hard?
ReplyDeleteIf whoring out your blog for $20 per month is bad, I must be the worst sinner in the blogosphere. It takes me about 6 months to get a check that good. And yet, I keep whoring...
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing that I'm not in that profession myself. I could see me just doing favors for the poor and homeless because they have no money.
Is that TMI?
Wow, congrats on the big money, honey. Try not to spend it all in one place!
ReplyDelete$39.00 is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
ReplyDeleteI have a stalker from Nebraska. I can tell where they work due to the information on my stat counter, yet, they never comment.
I haven't asked them to reveal themself because the last time I tried to out one of my stalkers, they stopped visiting my blog.
To my understanding, that's quite a whopping sum to rake in from blog ads. I'm not one of the silent readers you mentioned, but I do tend to read without commenting often. As a homeschooling mom of 6, I can *so* relate to pretty much everything you write and use the stuff I haven't gotten to yet (my oldest just turned 15) as self-education. ;) Thanks for sharing your world with us!
ReplyDeletei always did wonder how much one could make with blogher.
ReplyDeleteI'm Denver, Colorado, who has probably pulled up your blog to comment, been called away by a kiddo-or-two, and come back 12-hours later, only to realize that I have completely forgotten the witty comment I wanted to leave.
ReplyDeleteYeah for the income! I submitted to host their ads awhile ago, but never heard back . . . $39 sounds like lottery winnings to me!
Yay, good job on Blogher bucks. Want to send some of your readers my way?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't be bothered with ads on my blog. But if your salsa, condiments and apple sauce can boost your yarn stash - well, I'm feeling a little bit envious.
ReplyDeleteI don't always have time to leave comments. Tonight is different - Recaro went to the pub and I have a spare hour to myself. Yay! Bring on the next living with a teenage daughter experience.
Will blog for yard money...
ReplyDeleteUm, make that YARN money!!!
ReplyDeleteI forget to leave comments sometimes, especially when I am not at work. At home, I rarely have time to sit down.
ReplyDeleteApples are ripe at the orchard, yeah! Anne goes to the community college a mile or so from my favorite orchard, so I'll give her cash this week so she can get a bushel or so. :)
Congrats on your first check. I could name a 1000 things I could buy for $39 so I hope you enjoyed your well earned profits and heres to hoping they continue to grow!
