Sunday Shorts

Still coughing spasmodically...but it doesn't really get too bad, so long as I don't move around or talk...

I'm thinking Larry considers that last a win-win.  The house is slowly falling apart, however, from my lack of activity.  I've come to realize that all that stuff I run around doing all day that I can't even recall later?  It matters

**********

If you missed it, Click and Clack offered up an informative piece this weekend on what happens when your husband says, "I'll grill dinner tonight, honey."  Don't miss it.

**********

And, last but not least, Smartypants introduced me to this awesome version of The Star-Spangled Banner, as sung by Marvin Gaye in 1983.

  1. Just swung by after a hiatus from blog reading... so sorry to hear you're sick. Especially during the summer! Hope you're back on all four wheels soon~!

  3. Monica has a good point!
My house falls apart slowly when I am doing things I'm supposed to be doing. When I depart from those things? It falls down faster than a tower of Jenga blocks.

Off to find a quiet place to listen to Click & Clack. (I'm still mourning that they are retiring.)

  4. Grilling... oh, how very true!! It's almost as much effort as renting a vacation house at the beach, so you can save money by not going out to eat.

  5. I have also recently come to the conclusion that all the stuff I do all day "matters" too. I have been painting and rearranging furniture in an attempt to like my house more. And, this morning, I opened my eyes to the house...the floors, the counters...it is truly disgusting. Alas, though, I fear I am the only one that has realized that difference between what the house looks like when mom pays attention versus when mom doesn't!

  6. Thank you for that! Since moving, I cannot figure out when Cartalk or This American Life (an addiction) is on, so this was like a shot in the arm.

Also, love Marvin Gaye. I like to put the Stevie Wonder station on Pandora while my husband is grilling. It takes the sting out of the situation.

Hey! Just found you through your comment on "Crappy Pictures" about feeding children with an IV! Read your original post and remembered those days so clearly. So now have you bookmarked and will go back and read all your posts. I guess it's kind of sad that that's what you're reduced to when your kids have flown the coop and you're retired with nothing to do and all day to do it in. But if it gives me a chuckle, I'm a happy camper.

  8. Being sick sucks. My house looks like a bachelor and a bunch of teenagers live here go figure.
