A knitting book. How stupid is that? But really, Yarn Harlot's Knitting Rules is about so much more than just knitting - it's a rumination on the creative process, as it were, interspersed with commentary on how it is possible for a sane person to end up with a completely insane amount of knitting needles. It's permission to be your creative self, with absolutely no regard for what you produce as a result.
Also, it's funny. What more could you ask?
So comment below if you are interested in participating in the drawing for her book. I'll give it until Monday or Tuesday or maybe Wednesday, so you have lots of time. And if you happen to already be a Yarn Harlot fan, feel free to donate to her People With AIDS Bike Rally fundraiser for 2018. Stephanie does the 6-day ride from Toronto to Montreal each year to help raise money for people and their families affected by AIDS. Because, obviously, she's a much better person than I am. Also? More fit. Which is pretty amazing for someone who sits around and knits all the time, come to think of it...
I would love Knitting Rules, I have been trying to teach myself knitting for years. I would love to make something besides hats and scarves.
ReplyDeleteOh I forgot to say thank you for the chance. See, you are a better person
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will help me figure out the lace pattern stitch that is making me hit my head and say “Why?”
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm not deserving of the book. The closest I come to knitting is reading about it. But thanks for sharing your thoughts and knits with me over the years.
ReplyDeleteKnitting Rules! I would like a chance, please!
ReplyDeleteI am bravely commenting despite the fact that the LAST thing I need is another area in which to excel at unfinished projects. But I DO need funny commentary on the creative life. So that makes it ok, right?
ReplyDeleteOh yes ...please...I need this !.....oh ad thank you for filling my days with laughter..Cynthia
ReplyDeleteI would really enjoy this book. I have followed Steffanie's blog for years, and always enjoy her take on life.
ReplyDeleteI would love a chance to win this book. Sounds like a great read. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI guess you would not ship to France... Anyway I am a fan of the Harlot, and you know what, she doesn't just sit around and knit, she walks around and knit, amazing ! (and maybe this explains about the fitness)
ReplyDeleteYes - it sounds great . . . even for a non-knitter like me. Maybe this will teach me a thing or two and give me a project to work on while I camp out outside of Irish dancing classes. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAs a gradually-increasing-but-still-very-rudimentary knitting-skillz person (I can knit! I can purl! I know two increases - three if you count YO... and, uh, that's about it), but one who cannot follow a normal pattern correctly worth beans (if I completely understand the pattern and it doesn't require much counting: sure; but I have to really understand how the pattern works and I am not yet up to understanding most patterns yet), I am not sure whether I should be eligible for this book or whether it'd be way over my Knitting Capability Ceiling. So! Up to you. :-)
ReplyDeleteI do so look forward to reading your blog - You! Yes you, are the person who introduced me to the Yarn Harlot.
ReplyDeleteNo way! Really?
