Sunday Ramblings

Larry was duly alarmed upon reading yesterday's post. Serves him right for not hiring a nanny. Maybe she wouldn't ignore his children the way I am doing right now. Then again, she might be young and nubile. Okay, new rule - any nanny hired has to be older than me. And not as good-looking. I really don't need the competition.

Today (well, Saturday) happened to be Worldwide Knit in Public Day. Apparently, we knitters are supposed to take to the streets in massive numbers and knit in full view of non-knitters. Personally, I don't think it will make much of an impact, as we usually bring our knitting with us when we go out anyway. Now, if the organizers had called it Worldwide Knit Naked in Public Day, that may have garnered a bit more attention, don't you think?

I don't know why no one consults me on these things.

That's all I've got, folks. I'm also at MidCentury Modern Moms today, as soon as I figure out what the heck I'm going to write. See you there - I'll be the one with the knitting (but fully clothed).

What would knitting in public accomplish anyway? Have I missed some news story about an innocent granny being turned out of Denny's for knitting in full view of impressionable young children, who are now traumatized for life? :P

  2. Ha! No, the idea is to let people know that it isn't just little old ladies that knit. Not that there is anything wrong with being a little old lady that knits, of course...

  3. Knitting naked would for sure get more attention. I just don't know if it is the kind of attention you want.

  4. NOW you'll get all those strange Google searches looking for "naked knitting"! That isn't the kind of attention that anyone needs.
    Have a nice evening...

  5. Maybe you could be naked in public, while you knit something to wear. Then, people would say, "HEY! Look, knitting is a useful activity! We should all do it!". I assume that Worldwide Knit in Public Day is supposed to show us non-knitters how great knitting is.

I just hope there is no Worldwide Scrapbook in Public Day.

  6. Worldwide knitting in public day? That's awesome. I was wondering why all those knitters took to the streets. Ok, I didn't see anyone. Sorry.

  7. But would you participate in World Wide Public Naked Knitting day? 'Cause frankly, the whole idea makes me glad I don't knit.

Ah, you could've gone to Boulder, CO for Naked Biking day and added Naked Knitting (which is way more fun to say, BTW!). Maybe knit saddle cushions for all those nude bikers.

Yes, all nannies must look just like Mrs. Doubtfire. I totally agree.

  11. OMG. When I first read that, I thought it was World Wide Knit in PUBIC Day.

    Some sweater THAT would make.

  12. I saw a blog once about people who knit around public items, like telephone poles and water fountains. It was pretty cool.

I think there needs to be a national "wear only hand knit items" day. Now that would be interesting.

  13. How great would a Knit Naked Day be? Would love that! Only because WHY NOT? LOL.

  14. Naked knitters....hahhaa!! Yeah, that definitely would have turned a few heads. Although, I don't think anyone would want to see me knit naked. They might go blind. Plus, weilding sharp pointy objects while all of your private areas are exposed and vulnerable might not be the best idea, either.
