It being Susie's birthday eve, I must get some shut-eye in preparation for the festivities tomorrow. I told Susie a few days ago that she gets to be Queen for the Day on her birthday. I now regret having done so. The girl has taken that concept and run with it. In fact, she is crazed with power. I overheard her telling Brian this morning, "Tomorrow? It's my BIRTHDAY. And you have to wear a clown costume."
I spent the rest of the day introducing her to the concept of a benevolent dictatorship; but she wasn't having any of it. Verily, I've created a monster.

A Birthday Tyrant--this does not bode well for her wedding day!
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will be therapeutic for her. I read that the youngest of the family often suffers because everybody else, all the time, always, always, always has more power than they do simply because they are older. That's why the youngest can often be so difficult. Maybe if you give her ways to exercise power within limits, it'll help the situation?
ReplyDeleteOr maybe not. . . .
Happy birthday, Susie!
Happy birthday to YOU, the mama dear.
ReplyDeleteOMG(osh). Susie and I have the same birthday! Happy Birthday Susie. Run those people in to the ground. What's being a Queen worth if you don't lop off a few heads.

Hee hee, I can imagine how she visualizes the control. Tyrant indeed! She'll yell, "Let me eat cake!"
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns of the day to both of you!
Happy birthday to the Queen and the Queen Mum! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, and what else would you expect form the daughter of a queen, anyway?
ReplyDeleteVerily is an excellent word, not used nearly enough.
ReplyDeleteIn our house, everyone gets to be Queen (or King) for the day on their birthdays. Even -- and this is very important -- me.
ReplyDeleteIt's just payback to the older sibs for all the flack she takes year round. Or they are far too nice to her and have allowed her to believe she can boss everyone. But I would definitely blame it on your other kids.
