In case you were wondering? 25 dollars is all it takes to make me happy.
25 dollars - that's the cost of my new purse from Target. My old purse, you see, had become a misery, an albatross slung 'cross one shoulder, as it were. It hung too low, looked out-of-season with its summery plaid, and had handy pockets on the front that screamed utilitarian.
Loudly.
So yesterday I took the plunge (well, what is for me a plunge, anyway) and purchased a long-coveted, faux-leather, hobo-style bag that exudes a cool, relaxed, stylish attitude. I walk around the house with it slung over my shoulder, complacent in the knowledge that my new handbag announces me to the world as a woman who knows how to accessorize. No matter that this particular purse possesses nary a cellphone pocket and is so deep that I regularly lose my wallet in it. Form has triumphed over function, dear readers; life is too short to focus on the useful at the expense of the beautiful.
It's not just a purse. It's a midlife crisis in a bag.
I LOVE the beautiful spring color! My purses are all small with lots of pockets. My friends mock me.... I still can't cave quite yet.
ReplyDeleteI am in desperate need of a new bag myself. Nice choice (and awesome price)! If this constitutes as a mid-life crisis, count yourself blessed.
ReplyDeleteGood morning. Nice bag. I like Target for my fashion sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteLeft you an award. Understand if you don't take it. Just wanted to let you know.
super super super dee duper cute! I have a similar colored purse and, I must say, it is a thing of beauty. Enjoy and walk proudly, you new purse toting gal.
ReplyDeleteI love the color! Target has the best purses. I, too, like a one pocket big purse. And yes, I constantly fumble around for everything. My kids are used to my declarations of, "I've lost my keys somewhere." They just silently take the big purse and shuffle through it until they find it. Anything for the pretty.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as my children outgrow the urge to vomit on my handbags, I plan to purchase a non-washable, non-Vera Bradley purse. I'm still quite a way away, aren't I?
ReplyDeleteI just recently got a new purse too. I love the last 2 bags I got from Target. And I demand form and function as well as a nod to fashion. My purse must meet certain parameters for me to use it.
ReplyDeleteMy new one is turquiose, has a couple exterior pockets, and has rounded handles so I don't break down the material nearly as fast. It's also big enough that I lose my stuff (urg) but I can also throw a diaper and the wipe container in it when I'm on a 'fast & dirty' trip somewhere w/ the baby.
Nice purse. I think you should take it for a walk around the block now that you've shown off in your house;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the color!
ReplyDeleteI bought a late spring purse last year for around that price (at Kohl's, I think) and used it until late in the fall, when I lost my keys inside it. I spent over 30 minutes trying to find my keys after church one day. A friend even searched my purse for me, and she didn't find them, either. I finally dumped the entire contents out and "found" my keys in the one and only inner pocket (which I had already checked twice). I had to go back to smaller-with-pockets purses for my family's sanity.
PS: Red sofa = awesome!
You have a PURSE? What's that?! ;)
ReplyDeleteMine has gone into hiding since I left the corporate world for domestic educational pursuits. Translation: now that I'm a stay-at-home, home-school mom, I've given up trying to impress anyone. If the wallet doesn't fit in my jeans, forget about it...
Love the bag! It is the exact same color as the bag I got from Target last year. However, mine has the utilitarian pockets on each side...which I use for my cell phone. I'm just glad my purse no longer contains diapers, sippy cups and pacis. Although I fear I will forever carry wipes.
ReplyDeleteWe are so alike, it is scary! I love the purse and Target is my fav place and it really only takes a small thing to me so happy and feel complete! Like a new purse, awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteYou will rue the day you bought a bag like that. Why, you ask? Because I've owned every possibly shaped purse in the free world. Those with no side walls that are structured will eventually make you tear your hair out. OUT. I just gave one of my $300 Betsey Johnson bags to my sister (to torture her)
ReplyDeleteI, however, went to Overstock.com and got the most gorgeous black bag with gold tassles (you can see it on all the overstock.com online ads. They come in green, brown and black)and for only $58.00. THE cheapest bag I've ever owned and so utilitarian, nothing gets lost!
And faux leather? Really? Uhhhhhh, no.
Isn't it great that we can get perked up by little things like a new purse? Very cute.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a real purse in years and the one I had then was part of my army uniform. My current bag is a cheap black diaper bag from the hospital that had been kicking around my house for at least 5 years, until the previous backpack diaperbag fell apart. It will be spilled on, kicked around and when it falls apart thrown out. I have 6 more that are similar size/color to replace it. :)
ReplyDeleteNo cell phone pocket? That just proves your not middle-aged. The older I get, the more pockets and compartments I need.
ReplyDeleteOh, but I am middle-aged! I'm just fighting it. Do not go gently into that dark night...
ReplyDeleteWow! The green is great! Even better than the black version I have, which accidentally turned out to be stylish. People are always saying how much they love it. I could fit a small child in it, but frequently I have to dump the whole thing to find what I'm looking for in there. I say Larry is lucky the midlife crisis only cost $25.
ReplyDeleteIt never seems to matter how tiny my purse is, the article I am looking for is ALWAYS at the bottom, squirting out of the way of my searching fingers like a wet bar of soap. Aggravating. Your new bag is lovely!
ReplyDeleteBig enough to stuff a knitting project into!
ReplyDeleteWhat more could you ask for?
