I also spent time eating these. |
Awesome Mother's Day - I ignored everyone and pretended that I was footloose and fancy-free. 3 hours at the mall, trying on clothes (and yes, I
did buy some, as a matter of fact), a nice walk all by my lonesome, 2 hours at the bookstore looking at books and magazines and reminding myself that I didn't have to worry about getting home "in time," a solo grocery run to stock up for Bunko tomorrow evening...
Actually, I guess that
doesn't sound like an amazing day -- at least, not to a person with a normal life. You'd probably have to have been in some sort of hostage situation at some point to understand how free I felt.
Hmmm...is the daily grind of mothering akin to being held hostage? Are we parents all
victims of Stockholm Syndrome? Discuss.

Sounds like an amazing day to me!
ReplyDeleteNot having to be home "in time"? That's the best!
ReplyDeleteYES - we absolutely are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome! Loving your blog and connecting with you from LTYM DC. Today I decided that Mother's Day and Daylight Savings - you know - when we all "get an extra hour of sleep" - are the two worst days of the year.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! My only request for the day was not to have to cook. I got taken out to lunch and we had leftovers for dinner - everyone even heated up their own plate. So pretty good for me, too.
ReplyDeleteAs a mother, that sounds like a perfect day to me :-)
ReplyDeleteI think we are, because I'd give my left arm (and I'm left-handed) to have had that sort of Mother's Day. My family did fix me breakfast, but then I spent several hours cleaning the house (again) so we could have a showing. Because apparently our realtor works on Mother's Day. (And no, they won't be buying the place... they need a larger kitchen and dining area.)
ReplyDeleteI've loved childless mother's day--why not? It seems men enjoy childless father's days all the time!
ReplyDeleteI think you're right. My younger son got his driver's license and now I don't know what to do with myself.
ReplyDeleteA little "me" time always recharges the soul.
ReplyDeleteI'm envious of your day!!
ReplyDeleteWhat made me happy a few years ago--the running around, the sports, the volunteering--sounds like a nightmare to me these days. If it is Stockholm Syndrome, it's a good thing we have it during those busy years!
ReplyDeleteyeah...that sounds like an absolutely lovely kind of day. you lucky girl, you!!
ReplyDeleteamd those Raffaellos? i got some one time from a student who had traveled to Italy and i googled that name, just to see what they were.....i clicked on 'images' and....wow. there was some very lovely eye candy names Raffaello...i may have bookmarked that site. it was a win-win kind of present!!
That sounds like HEAVEN.
ReplyDeleteJealous.
