Potty Animal

Summer's back - it went away for a few days and we were teased with sweatshirt weather and beautiful gray skies, but now it is back with a vengeance. That's okay - I like being miserable.

Potty training is going along swimmingly here, as usual (ahem). I decided that waiting far too long to train the other kids had caused all the problems we've had in the potty department; so I confiscated Susie's diapers months ago (before she turned 2). As a result, she pees on the floor and yells, "Towel!" and I run and bring towels to clean it all up. She's trained me pretty well, don't you think?

What I should have done is paper-trained her. And smacked her (gently) on the nose with a rolled-up newspaper every time she messed up. Too bad there is no #7 on the horizon to try that out on.

  1. You are officially HILARIOUS! I have an almost three and almost two year old. Both pee in their pants. Do you think that's bad?

Prom night sure is gonna be tough for them!

  2. I think they make diapers up to like size 6X now, so don't worry, Minivan.

My sister has five kids, the first three are girls and all older than my boys. They were all trained before age 2. The sister was quite snarky about this when my boy wasn't trained until 3.

The last two are twins. They are 3 1/2 and still wearing diapers at night. Sweet justice...

  3. People who have girls first can be quite insufferable until faced with the reality of juvenile masculinity. At least, that's what I have experienced.

  4. LMAO. I have a toddler who we are going to start potty training in the next few months. I'll try this out on him and let you know how it works :)

  5. Cool! I'm glad to know my kids aren't the only guinea pigs around here.

  6. At this point with Brother, I'm willing to give this paper training thing a try. I'll be back to let you know how it goes. He's happy to wear his own body grossness all day if I'd let him. Doesn't bother him a bit. I'm worried that his wife will be still changing his diapers on their honeymoon.

Thanks for stopping by, by the way! Love your blog!

  9. Totally procrastinating on training my third (and final!). He's ready (at age 2) but Mommy isn't. Wayyyyy too much hassle and work. But if he wants to train himself, then I'm all for it!

  10. Well, if he does train himself before he's 3, please don't gloat. Because mine sure don't.
