As The Food Turns: Saturday Edition

Look - I really don't want to talk about it, all right? No item-by-item list this week; I'll just leave it all to your imaginations. But that jam jar on the top right? You're right - you have seen it before.

I blame Thanksgiving for the shameful fridge-cleanout results this week. And my parents' visiting and taking us out to dinner for a few nights. And just the general chaos of life. And, hey! I started a new job, too! So cut me some slack, will ya?

  1. I have had to do the same thing this week and I don't even have any of your excellent excuses.

  2. I think there is something alive in my fridge but I'm afraid to look.

I'll clean it out after I write my last paper for the quarter. And get the decorations done. And finish the laundry....

  3. Consider the slack bestowed. To those who bestow mercy, hopefully mercy is given. I served up SOOO many Thanksgiving leftovers last night, yet we still are plowed under. Could I interest you in half a pumpkin pie? ;)

  4. I had to clean out the fridge last night: one large container of plain yogurt, one small container of (poison) Cool Whip -- both purchased by my MIL about 6 weeks ago. Also? the last small bit of Costco spinach dip and some slimy sliced cucumbers from Thanksgiving appetizers. The garbage pail was pretty full.
I'm a little bit worried about one item I can't quite get to yet...

  5. Mine never gets cleaned out at once, things just get thrown away as I get around to it.

  7. You're doing it wrong! Don't you know when you become a two income family, the second income goes directly to the fast food industry? I'll let it slide this week, but next week there had better be a box of fries in that stack of uneatable leftovers.

  10. Really, it's not that big of a deal, say, compared to the fine you've probably racked up at the public library. ;)

I went seeking absolution at the library on Saturday, and while they did grant it, they don't seem to sell indulgences. Where IS their sense of history?!

I think Thanksgiving can be blamed for the multitude of leftovers for most people!

  12. At least you purge your frigde on the regular basis. Some of us - I wouldn't know who - wait until that magic moment when hubby starts turning all shades of red every time he opens it.
