Was Davy Jones The Justin Bieber Of The 1960's?

Does anyone else see the resemblance?  Maybe it's just the eyebrows...

RIP, buddy.  And thanks for making Marcia Brady happy...

  1. I missed the Monkees, don't know their music, but I do see the resemblance. I hope I live to see JB turn 66

  2. How did I miss this today?? Oh yeah, childcare. Now I rely on your blog to keep me up to date on current events.
I loved him in The Brady Bunch movie.

  4. The Monkees were a little before my time, but I do remember the Brady Bunch episode. "I'll never wash this cheek again."

  5. I'm not watching that again! When I heard the news I dialed up Daydream Believer on YouTube and had myself a cry, mostly for my 7th-grade self. I got the Monkees on the reunion upsweep, as I'm too young for the original craze. They were the first band I saw live in concert. Sigh, I wanted to live in that crazy beach house back in the 60s. And of course Davy was my favorite.

By the way, this is the sort of crap that happens when we let February have an extra day.

    1. We must be close in age because I remember when MTV began rerunning Monkee episodes and the fever was on again. I begged my parents to drive me 3 hours to go to the concert, but they weren't having any of it. You were one lucky girl! My favorite was Peter. I felt he was the only one tall enough for me. Poor Davy Jones I could tuck under my armpit even at 13.

  6. Last year at the Grammy's I finally figured out that Justin was like Shaun Cassidy, but move it down a decade and Davey Jones fits.

  7. I do see a resemblance. But Davy was infinitely cooler than Justin Beaver... err, Bieber.

  8. I am 13. You probably expect me to like Justin Bieber. I don't. Davy Jones s WAAAAYYY better. There is simply no comparison

  9. Justin Beiber is NOTHING compared to Davy Jones. I wasn't even born in the 60s and I will always love Davy Jones. He was a kind-hearted soul, and never was rude to anyone, he always kept on being a good person to the day he died. Justin, on the other hand, is a jerk who gets into trouble with the law, constantly, and he's very rude to his fans, and his voice is very annoying. Davy had a sweet, soothing voice. Long live, Davy Jones! :)
