Put Your Blog Post Title Here

Well, judging from the comments yesterday, it seems that most people are in the neglectful/squeamish camp when it comes to pulling baby teeth. It's nice to know that I have company. And now Michelle knows that she can abandon her tooth-pulling duties, if she so desires. C'mon, Michelle! Stop making the rest of us look bad, with all that diligent dental attention you lavish on your children.

Oh, and near the end of the comments, "Anonymous" left a link to a video that I "must see." I was scared to click on it, in case it was gross. Anyone else care to be brave enough to check it out and let me know if I want to watch it? Please?

Today was a good day, until I discovered ants invading my kitchen at 9:30 this evening. Larry ventured outside in the dark and sprayed the foundation of the house. Wasn't that nice? You'd think we were still dating or something.

Once, soon after we met and he was still besotted with me, he dashed out in the pouring rain to roll up the windows of my car. He came back inside soaked but happy to have been of service. After almost 2 decades, he would still roll them up, it's true; but he'd be annoyed - no longer is my forgetfulness a charming trait. I think it's more of an irritating pebble in his shoe, actually.

I guess 19 years can be a long time to put up with me. The more I think about it, he probably went outside and sprayed so that I would just shut up about those darn ants, already. Poor guy...

[Edited to add: Okay, the video is cute, not gross - thanks for checking it out for me! All about a little girl trying to fool the Tooth Fairy - and in French (with subtitles)! It always amazes me how little kids can speak a foreign language...]

  2. After 15 years I am positive that 99% of the sweet and wonderful things husband does he does just to shut me up. But I don't care about motivation, just the end results!

  6. Nothing, but nothing ruins your day or night like a kitchen full of ants. I'm glad your knight in shining armor is around to take care of it for you.

  7. I think we're a backwards version of you guys. I'm the one who gets irritated and he's the one who is still accommodating. Now I feel bad about it.

  9. haha! 19 years!? Congrats! However, in your defense, you cannot just shut up about ants. Someone needs to be told. That shit is unsanitary...

He either has to do it, or you call the orkin man! They are awful!

    I'm sure you're still charming!

  16. Well, your mental score book will only remember that he DID it, not the motives for it. Good for both of you. I love the word "besotted". You keep teaching me new words!

  18. I have two tooth-related stories I can't resist sharing.

First, my younger sister lost a tooth down the drain, and didn't know how to write, so she asked me to write a note to the Tooth Fairy for her. At this time, the Tooth Fairy gave us quarters, but I didn't know how to spell "quarter", so I wrote "dollar". That was the only time either of us got a dollar - SO not fair.

Second, my younger son had a very loose tooth, and when I picked him up from school, I noticed it had fallen out, I asked him if he had it - no. I asked if his teacher had it - no. Turned out that when it fell out, he had hidden it under the rug he was sitting on and not told anybody. We had to go back to his classroom and get the tooth, much to the amusement of his teacher.

    Sorry for the super-long comment!

  19. You always bring thought provoking ponderables to the table. I'd never thought that my hubby was doing things just to shut me up. Here all this while I was thinking that it's taken 17 years to train him, but my plan finally worked. So much for that theory.

  20. Just had an ant invasion start in my kitchen...I am currently fighting them with vinegar...until hubby gets home tonight with something stronger. At least they are just sugar ants...it's easier than the big ones and so much less horrible than cockroaches!
Thank goodness Larry wasn't on aa trip & he sprang to it to spray those suckers!

  21. We just found out there are bed bugs in our building. What the hell?! Ick.

  22. We found the spot where the ants were coming in the window, and sprayed the area with a heavy coat of clorox spray cleaner.
Two of the little stinkers tried to walk through the spray and died.
We didn't see any more ants for a few days. I think they started to come in the house but saw their dead relatives and thought twice about entering.
Unfortunately, they got over their greif and are back in full force.

  25. I forgot to say-I always thought teeth just fall out on their own, if they want them out sooner, I make them pull their own tooth, or get a sibling to kick it out or something....
