They Say Ya Gotta Stay Hungry...

It's been raining, oh, 4 days straight, or maybe it's 8 days...

Actually it could possibly be 2 weeks. I don't know. No end in sight, though, and we are UNO-ed out. I don't know how Noah survived in that ark for 40 days. Oh, wait, yes I do - there weren't any kids on it.

Plus, this weather is seriously screwing with my diet plans. It's easy to munch happily on salad and fresh fruit and sorbets all the livelong day when the weather is nice and warm. But these cold rainy days have me yearning for steaming mugs of cocoa and toasty grilled cheese sandwiches and such. I did manage to lose 3 pounds this week, but only by starving. I kept having those stupid dieting nightmares where I dream I'm eating a whole bunch of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and then I realize I've ruined my diet and I cry.

Everyone does that, right? Or is it just me?

I keep thinking of that stupid joke we told as kids:

1st guy: Last night I had this weird dream that I ate a humongous marshmallow.
2nd guy: So?
1st guy: When I woke up this morning, my pillow was gone!

I wouldn't be surprised to wake up one morning and find both my pillows gone.

Thought of this song because of my post title...some people age very well, don't you think so?

  1. Oh I so agree! When it is cold outside it is so hard to curl up on the couch with a big fat bag of over buttered popcorn and a coke. Sigh. Celery sticks suck.

  4. I used to have that kind of dream years ago when I quit smoking - I'd dream I lit up, unhaled, and then realised I had just wasted the last week/month/year of will power! Thankfully, I never actually did in real life, but those dreams were quite demoralising.

  6. Why oh why is it so easy to gain and so hard to lose? Getting old sucks. Unless you're the Boss who I remain faithfully devoted to just as I have since 1979.....sigh.

  7. You must live where I live--I keep waiting for Noah to float by!

I've lost 4 lbs this week, but only because it dried up enough for me to mow not one, but two yards! We have a rental that we have to maintain. Of course, today it's raining again and I'm home alone with all the leftover goodies from the grandchildren's visit. I don't hear the M&Ms. I don't hear the M&Ms. I don't...oh, look, ice cream!

  8. Oh, thank you for this video! Not to bring you down or anything, but my mom passed away in '87, when I was ten, and I have memories of her loving the Boss, particularly this song. Thank you for reminding me about her this morning, sincerely. I seem to also remember her saying he had a cute butt, but maybe I'm making that one up??

  9. Yes. Sick of rain.

When I first began dating the man who is now my husband, I'd dream that I kissed someone else and ruined the whole thing. I hated those dreams.

  10. I think you've hit on why we all grow a few sizes over winter. Everyone does that, right? It's not just me?

  11. Congrats on the loss! If you like popcorn, try the Jolly Time White popcorn. I can eat practially the whole bag for 4 points.

A few months ago, I was looking for a Bruce CD @ Walmart and I came across a 3-disk set, The Essential Bruce Springsteen for under $12. Love it!

  12. The rain would be ruining my diet, too, but tragedy is good for ruining your appetite. I've lost 6 pounds in the past week, and I never even made it to WW.

And yes, I get those dreams, too. But now I want cookies, and rolls, and buttered popcorn.

  13. Why oh why would you post a pic of lovely, chocolately cookies? How could you do this to me? I thought we were friends...can't you send some to me?

  14. I don't know what this post was about because I got stuck on the picture of the cookies.

  15. I have no self-control. Especially when I am sitting at home and there is something good to eat. That's why I look the way I do. Stupid food.

  16. I eat way too much junk at work as it is boring, for the most part. At home, I'm lucky if I get my breakfast oatmeal eaten before 10 am. :( Besides, hubby is borderline diabetic and needs to lose at least 50 pounds, 100 would be better. I try to make only enough dessert/cookies for everyone to have a serving and enough left over for whomever packs their lunches the next day. If I make a hugh batch of ghiradelli triple chocolate chunk brownies, we will eat them all, especially me. If I only make 1 pack, eack person gets 1 brownie.

Well done. You made my day with this perfect post. The Boss AND cookies.

  18. I got a cold two days ago. NOTHING has tasted good at all. If I could stay clogged...

But I think those cookies would even permeate my filled up sinuses.

  20. I've been told by alcoholics that the drinking dreams are one of the hardest things to deal with. They can have them years after they stop drinking. I guess dreams seem to be part of any addiction even food. You have my sympathy.
