Happiness

Happiness is setting aside 2 hours to go through our mess of a filing system...thereby serendipitously stumbling upon 120 dollars worth of IKEA refund cards.

Best of all, Larry doesn't know I found them. Mine! All mine!

Also? Having come to the realization that I will not have a working dishwasher anytime soon, I purchased a Michael Graves dish drying rack from Target today. Form and function combined, folks! It is a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

  1. So with the boys getting their own rooms instead of sharing, we're short a bureau and wardrobe. IKEA! I think. Now here's our conundrum--if we go WITH the kids (and it's really too far to try to go while they're in school, because we need to get back to meet the bus), WHERE DO WE PUT THE STUFF WE BUY?? How do you do it? You have more kids than we do. We have 5 people in a Mazda 5. Please advise.

  2. MMMhhh....IKEA. It's a 40 minute drive to New Haven, but a 99 cent breakfast and 2 hours to follow the little yellow arrows makes it all worthwhile.

If we're feeling really fiesty and rebellious we go BACKWARDS! (it thrills my 4 year old to break the rules....ok, it thrills me, too.)

Yes, yes we do need a life.

  3. I love IKEA! I wish we weren't 2 hours away from one though! :(

  4. No dishwasher? Then surely you meant to buy paper plates and plastic silverware, rather than a dish drying rack, right? OMG! Say you aren't really going to hand wash those dishes!

  5. Filing system? I should get me one of those...and a new dishwasher...and some stuff from IKEA.

  6. Mmmmmm, Ikea. You're a lucky girl! Our closest store is 3 hours away. I try to go once every couple of years...I have all the catalogs though since I discovered them in 2001. I still drag them all out and dream of the boy "dorm"/playroom/bathroom I want our upstairs to be.

  7. You STILL don't have a dishwasher? That's it, I'm officially nominating you for sainthood. I'd kill myself if we didn't have the dishwasher and I only have half the mess-makers that you do.

Make sure your halo is on straight!

  8. At first glance, I was thinking it was a porch swing just needing ropes and cushions to finish the setting up. A dishrack? Um. I say you need the porch swing while the kids do the dishes for you. Relax, kick back, right?

  9. I wish I found cool things like that in my files. Although I did find $30 in the dryer, which I claim by royal perogative.

    Take me shopping, please?

  10. Eeek - cool dishrack... beware though - make darn sure that it's fully stuck together and set - otherwise those vouchers will be going on a new dinner set... go on, ask me how I know!

  11. I'll see you a messy filing system and raise you a pile on the bedroom floor....

You are definitely a saint. I would have pitched a major fit by now over no dishwasher (or at least been non-green and switched over to paper plates and cups -- which would be enough to convince my husband of the error of his ways).

  12. A dishrack is a thing of beauty, compared to a sink full of dirty dishes...

  13. Even though I have a dish washer I still do more hand washing than anything. Nothing is better than a great looking dish rack.
