Thank You, Car Talk!

Hey! I took a day off! Bet you didn't even notice...but you see, I had to take some time just to rest on my laurels, as it were...because apparently I've managed to do something special.

I made Click and Clack laugh.

Yup. They linked to me this week, and my blog has been teeming today with people who apparently spend a lot of time at work looking at very unproductive websites.

Are they laughing at me? With me? Who cares? Click and Clack found this post funny. I think I can die happy now.

But before I do that, I'd like to announce that Susie seems to be potty-trained. Oh, I'm sure there will still be some accidents, most likely highly embarrassing ones in very public places; but, essentially, my diapering days are over.

After 17 years, folks...do you have any idea how that feels?

My post-election high has been officially extended one more week...

  1. Uh-oh! Is your husband mad at Click and Clack for saying your real name?

  2. I can't believe I know someone famous. At least I kind know you!!!
    Congrats!
On the diaper front. I changed diapers for 10 years straight wand 6 of those years I had 2 or MORE in diapers. Do I qualify to kind of know how you feel?
17 years is a long time.

  3. You don't want to hear this, but...when the twins finally got out of diapers, I announced it to everyone I saw in the Wal-Mart parking lot: "Guess what? I did NOT buy diapers today! It's my first trip out of Wal-Mart without diapers in TWELVE years! Isn't that GREAT?"

And within six months, I was pregnant.

  6. Wow! You are a rock star. They did use your real name though.

17 years is a long time, but even though I had kids in diapers an uber-long time also, I'm sad now. I miss having a little one around. Don't tell my hubby I said that. :-)

  7. Oh, the first day you leave home without the diaper bag...freedom!!! For me it was 12 years, and it felt heavenly! I thought I might miss it, but honestly, no.

  9. I should receive a gold diaper-pin-shaped brooch, shouldn't I?

  10. I *BIG PUFFY HEART* Click and Clack!
Now I can tell dh that they gave a stamp (seal? Valve? Whatever!) of approval to your blog. It gives me something to aspire to. (Maybe I need to write some car posts?)

Hooray for the last of the diapers!! My stint was only 12-1/2 years, but I remember that glorious feeling of finally being FREE!!

  12. Wow, having just gotten my last potty trained I don't know which one would be more exciting Click and Clack or the potty training. Either way you are having a stellar day and I'm happy to be a part of it!

  14. You're on Click and Clack! You are big time! That's even more exciting than the potty training thing!

  15. Ooh. I love "Click and Clack" -- congrats! You're in good company.

Done with diapers? You know you're jinxing yourself, right...

Seriously, it took 5 or 6 years for one of mine. I can tell you that after almost six years on the SAME CHILD, I was SO done with it!!! Newborn poo is nothing compared to a five year old. But not carrying a diaper bag is almost as good as the day they learn to seatbelt themselves.

  17. I have a parking cmera in the back door of the Van. It makes it as easy to park as my camry or hubby's oldsmobile.

No diapers? Is that allowed? I suggested to Sam (26 mo) that he was old enough to learn to use the big boy potty and not wear diapers. He looked at me like I was crazy!

  23. I am not done the diapers yet. :( The youngest is only 1 1/2... But I've been changing diapers for 12 years, and after the second was born, I had 2 in diapers at a time. Can I join your diaperless happy club soon? :)
