2012 Pillow Talk

I crawled into bed past midnight last night.  Larry rolled over and mumbled, "Where were you?"

"I had to stay up and follow Iowa.  It was awesome!"

"Iowa? Oh, the caucuses. Um, yeah. Awesome." (Yawn.)

"You should have heard Newt.  He's out for blood."

"Newt...mmm,hmm..."

"And Santorum trounced Bachmann and Perry!"

Silence. Then a snore.

Electoral politics isn't for everyone, apparently.  Larry's probably thinking it's going to be a very long year.

  1. I was out of orbit I'm afraid - tangling with a tooth fairy instead - of for a cerebral existence.

  2. It was pretty much settled before I went to bed. I just keep scratching my head wondering why the only one of the bunch that makes sense (Huntsman) is dead last.

  4. Will you hate me if I say that I'm avoiding all of this early stuff?
Of course, I'm not avoiding it on your blog. I expect you to keep me as well-informed as NPR.

  5. I did find it entertaining as all get out.

  6. My dad is in the same boat as Larry. He's confused as to why *anyone* cares what republicans in Iowa think. I mean, say it with me, "Cornfed." Oy.

  7. In Larry's defense, his lack of interest is in no way a denigration of Iowans. I think it's more the intra-party politics that bores him.

  8. I'm with Larry although my h usband would probably think it was exciting :)

  9. I thought an NPR commentator had it right: the Iowa caucus is simply to get rid of the people who shouldn't have run in the first place. Worked with Bachman.

  10. They do like straight lines and right angles when they cut their state into counties.

  11. I shall come to you to get all my political information, then. I don't really want to watch it myself. Can you summarize in, say, December 2012?

  12. Mom Taxi said it for me. My husband kept telling me bits and pieces, and I kept saying, "Uh-huh," in all the right places. When he told me the next morning that Bachmann had dropped out, I went, "Oh, she didn't win?" ... and that was when he realized how much I wasn't listening.

    Oopsie. :)

  13. Glued. Total political junkie here. Kept refreshing the Washington Post story during the evening and was glad I'm on West Coast time so I didn't have to stay up.
