Medical News You Can Use

Sometimes science can be our friend. Get a load of this!

Dieting at this time of year could impair your body's ability to fight the flu virus...

Were sweeter findings ever reported? I mean, can you believe it? Now it makes absolute sense that the Girl Scouts start their cookie sales in January - they're doing it as a service to the general welfare. Maybe the Surgeon General should post a little advisory label on those cookie boxes, stating that consumption of the contents thereof can contribute to one's wellbeing (something many of us already knew, right?). Maybe we should be able to use the money in our flexible healthcare spending accounts to purchase said cookies.

Still not convinced? Another quote from the article:

...now is not the time to be thinking about diets...

So skip the flu shots and pass those Trefoils, will ya?

  2. The only problem is that the article mentioned increased weight loss as a result of having a nastier flu...
There are those of us who much prefer the illness method of dieting. When we lived in Mauritania, I never minded having giardia--such a quick and relatively easy way to lose those unwanted pounds! ;)

  3. I'll pass that along to Violet, her sales officially begin today. Sounds like a good selling point to me! Take two Thin Mints and call me in the morning.

  4. Have the Girl Scouts stopped making those things with trans fats yet? I won't buy them because the ingredient list (last time I checked) was horrifying. I stopped eating trans fats about a decade before the government decided they were bad for you. Someone explained the process to me and that was that. Yuck.

  13. Ah thanks for lending to my blog fodder today. I had a picture I wanted to share with the world and your blog was the logical segue into it.
And girl scout cookies? My fairy goddaughter is a girlscout, so I should head her off at the pass and just email her mother with my cookie order before she even asks me about them.

  15. I love it when people force me to eat cookies.

  20. I'll have a do-si-do if you're handing them out.

  21. My 13 yr old is selling them now. I rarely order them anymore, as my kids eat them before I get a chance to hide any. It's easier for me to give the troup $20 instead of selling 38 boxes so they would get the 55 cents per box.

  22. I buy from every girl scout I know who asks me. True story.
Which explains why there is still a box of Thin Mints in the freezer.

  23. This could not have come at a better time, as I literally am eating my way through a box of Thin Mints as I type. Thanks for lessening the guilt!

  24. The Girl Scouts probably commissioned a study that proves "Thin Mints' will lead to a thinner, more satisfying life.
